Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Extension
Human Subjects Protection Education Site
In accordance with federal regulations and guidelines and University of Wisconsin-Extension Institutional Review Board (IRB) Standard Operating Procedures, education on the use of human subjects in research is mandatory at UW-Extension. All faculty, staff, students, and collaborating researchers who are involved in the use of human subjects in research are required to complete the Human Subjects Research Core Education Modules.
If you are affiliated with UW-Extension, or you are collaborating on a project with UW-Extension faculty and staff, you must complete the required training units regardless of where the research is being conducted. The UW-Extension Human Subjects Training is Internet-based and is sponsored by the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) and the University of Miami. The UW-Extension training consists of completing the Social/Behavioral Research (SBR) Course modules 1-6 and reading the Belmont Report.
