Impacts
WRLP has been recognized for the tremendous impact it has had across
the state and beyond. Since 1983, more than 300 individuals have
participated in the program and have added their names to the directory
of dedicated and involved alumni.
Graduation from the group does not represent an end, but rather
the beginning of a lifetime of new experiences. WRLP provides our
state with motivated decision-makers that are well-informed and able
to shape the future of Wisconsin. Their efforts have led to such
endeavors as building a medical clinic in a community without healthcare
facilities; being elected to local, county, and state offices; helping
children with physical and mental disabilities; creating economic
opportunities in communities; and developing curriculum for schools.
The program's impact is felt in a variety of ways and on many levels.
The Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program is accompanying a police officer
on his late night shift, sitting down with government officials at
open-policy discussions, and joining in an editorial news conference.
It is coming face-to-face with the challenges we live every day.
It is using the WRLP experience to lead others to highly innovative
and successful solutions.
