CES Strategic Planning charge and timeline:

Established by CEAC Workgroup Members: Dan Wilson, John Preissing, Donna Doll-Yogerst, Laurie Boyce, Larry Jones

A successful strategic plan will build on our focus on the following three foundational initiatives:

  • Broadening local partnerships that support and enhance transformational education. To date, we have established 20 Community Partner Advisory Groups across the state. More than 20 additional counties are initiating CPAGs over the next few months. Having a healthy CPAG is central to the success of any local planning process.
  • Building relationships with community members who have not had access to our organization and its educational resources. Over 80 of your colleagues have participated in the multi-cultural awareness training. As more participate, we will gain a better understanding of how we can engage those who have traditionally been excluded from past planning processes.
  • Creating a culture where individuals and teams throughout the organization, share leadership, responsibility, and accountability for their work. This fall and early winter, you and your colleagues will create a team mission statement and operating principles. Having this "end in mind" will bring a common focus to your planning process.

Ways in which Cooperative Extension will be different as a result of the planning process:

  • Institution-wide priority initiatives in support of transformational education.
  • Citizenry input from a wide variety of perspectives through such mechanisms as the community partner advisory groups.
  • Focused strategies, partnerships, goals, monitoring and communication of progress in addressing initiatives.
  • Additional funding resources and the re-allocation of resources based on strategic priorities, rather than historical proportions or percentages.
  • Alignment, creation, elimination of internal systems, structures and processes in a manner consistent with a responsibility-based culture.

Guiding Principles:

  • Broad-based and inclusive participation
  • Do not set limits on our thinking
  • Clear agreement on what’s possible
  • Responsive, relevant programs for the state…grounded in the grassroots
